(b) Line Status Checkout:
Check out the Line status using a show interfaces command. The remedy for Line
status is shown in the table below.

1 active This NIF is operating normally. Inspect line status according to Table 7-9.
2 mismatch For installed NIF, configured line cannot
be used under control of this NIF.
(Installed NIF and line configuration
information do not match.)
Check whether installed NIF is correct, or line
configuration information is correct.
3 unused Line configuration information is not
defined to this NIF.
Define configuration information for the line to be
used.
4 closed Operation of this NIF is suspended by
the close nif command.
Ensure that NIF board to be used is installed, and set
this NIF to active by using free nif command.
5 fault This NIF is faulty. Obtain the log message for the subject line using
show logging command (*1), and take necessary
troubleshooting actions in accordance with the
obtained log message (Chapter 5, “Log Messages,” in
GR2000 Operations Log and MIB Reference).
6 initialized This NIF is restarting after error
detection.
Same as above.
7 locked Operation of this NIF is suspended by
configuration information.
Ensure that NIF board to be used is installed, and set
this NIF to active by altering the configuration
information.

the timeslot according to Table 7-11
When the line has a subline (*2), inspect the status of
the subline according to Table 7-12.
When the line does not have a timeslot, inspect link
layer protocol status of that line according to Table
7-13 to Table 7-15.
2 active down This line has line error. Obtain the log message for the subject line using
show logging command, and take necessary
troubleshooting actions in accordance with the
obtained log message (Chapter 5, “Log Messages,” in
GR2000 Operations Log and MIB Reference).
3 mismatch For installed line, configured line
cannot be used under control of this
NIF.
